June 12th & 13th were hectic days of prep and travel. When I got off the train in Enschede, NL I had been awake for 24hrs. I had flown to Amsterdam from Montreal with a connection in Iceland. During my layover in Keflavik, Jonathan messaged telling me the installation he had to go on for work in Lauchhammer, Germany had been moved up.. to that very afternoon. So what did we do?
We decided to visit l'île de la beauté when I found a very good flight deal from Amsterdam. We knew we wanted to travel to see mountains, and unfortunately going to Switzerland was a little out of our budget for this trip, so why not snow-capped mountains in the middle of the Mediterranean sea?
In the evening of August 5th, Jonathan and I left Montreal and drove to Quebec City to stay overnight at our friend's house. We were out the door the next morning bright and early. The first 2 hour leg of our drive had beautiful scenery; the morning sun shining on the Fleuve St-Laurent, the monadnocks near La Pocatière, and the mountains of the Charlevoix region standing tall in the backdrop. It was a pretty cool view to kick off our trip!
